$1550 Element Phenom II Gaming Computer
Posted by admin in Epic Custom PC News, The Epic Series Computers on April 30th, 2009

Yeah it’s been a pretty good while since I’ve put together a new Epic Series PC, but I took a break from re doing some of the other site material to piece this awesome computer together.
First I started with a brand new arrival from Thermaltake called the Element. Once I had my case I knew it was time to make a powerful gaming system, but since I’ve been with Intel for the last few I made this one a Phenom II computer. For that I chose the Phenom II 3.0 GHZ Quad Core processor.
And what would be a gaming PC without a great video card? I chose old faithful (As I call it) the ATI Radeon HD 4870 Video card. It will push basically anything you throw at it and it can always be upgraded as it’s Crossfire compatible.
The RAM is 6 GB of OCZ Gaming RAM running at 1600 MHZ. The computer features a DVD burner with Lightscribe and media card reader. But for the extra mile I chose an amazing 1000 Watt power supply with 80 Plus certification so you can be sure it’s energy efficient for a gaming PC.
All of this retails for $1700 on our site, but I’ve slashed the intro price to $1550. Act now while they’re on sale.
$500 – Tornado Intel Custom Computer
Posted by admin in Epic Custom PC News, The Epic Series Computers on April 7th, 2009
For this latest Epic Series computer I wanted to show that even though it’s an intel computer does not mean that has to be expensive. This computer is built with proven, well built computer parts. As with anything built here at Epic Custom PC it’s backed by a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.
I love the sleek design of this computer, it’s a great buy that will have folks jealous of your computer. But since it’s whats inside that counts here is what we have inside of these great computers.
2.5 GHZ Pentium Dual Core Processor
250 GB Hard Drive from Seagate
HP DVD Burner
Standard Media Card Reader
2 GB DDR 2 800 MHZ RAM
Standard Logitech mouse and keyboard combo.
The retail on this PC is $550, but this time we’re offering the first group of them for $500.
Epic Custom PC will offer eco-friendly computers.
Posted by admin in Epic Custom PC News, Industry News on April 6th, 2009
Epic Custom PC owner Eric Miner announced today that Epic Custom PC will soon offer eco-friendly computers to its customers.
“You know with the world going into such a conservative state it’s time for everyone to do their part. Everyone from car companies to light bulb manufacturers are doing it, but the custom computer world seems more concentrated on other things. I think it’s time we give the green people of the world something to be happy about.”
The new line of computers is set to be released by the end of April. While not much has been revealed Miner says the new computers will be fully RoHS compliant and pose no harm to the enviornment making them some of the cleanest PCs in the world.
The New Victory shows off both new video cards
Posted by admin in Epic Custom PC News, Eric Miner Personal, The Epic Series Computers on April 4th, 2009
With the recent release of NVidias GTX 275 and ATIs Radeon 4890 I decided the next computer I build for my Epic Series of PCs should feature these two great cards since they both outperform the ones I was planning on putting into them.
Since I am using these new video cards I decided that it would be sad for me to jam a bunch of old crap in both of my versions and call it a day. So since there was two new video cards I made two different computers with all different technology in them. However first I’d like to tell you about what both versions have as the same.
For starters, both versions include the newly released case from Thermaltake that I’ve nicknamed Victory. Of course that’s why there is a picture of it on the left.
Both systems feature one of my favorite hard drives, the Western Digital 750 GB Caviar Black with 32 MB Cache and they also both feature a Samsung DVD burner w/ Lightscribe technology built in. I’ve decided to stick the Media card reader on there for extra functionality and put Windows Vista Ultimate on both of these systems as well as sticking some high quality DDR3 1600 MHZ RAM from Mushkin in there (8 GB to be exact.) And last, but not least this system comes with a standard keyboard and mouse combo from Logitech and a massive 1000 watt power supply (But don’t worry because I made sure it was 80 Plus Certified for energy efficient operation.).
Now for the differences: To show off the ATI Video Card I thought it would be only right to put the new AMD Phenom II processor in that bad boy. So I stuck a 2.6 GHZ X4 Quad Core in there to go with the ASUS motherboard. The Phenom run 2.6 GHZ on each core and has a 4000 MHZ Hyper Transport with the Caches being as follows: L1 Cache = 4 X 128k, L2 Cache= 4 X 512k, L3 Cache = 4MB. This I think will compliment the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 very well.
If you’d like the AMD and ATI version I’ve built then you can check it out here. – The sticker price on this is $2,000 new, but for the special I knocked $150 off of the price tag. So the first batch will sell for $1850.
Now if you’re more into the Nvidia video cards and your colors are green and black don’t fret, I got a build for you as well.
Since I went with the Phenom II for the ATI build I thought why not show off the Intel Core i7 with the Nvidia? That’s exactly what I did because I started off with the Nvidia GTX 275 video card from EVGA, than paired it with a motherboard that is also from EVGA. For the processor I chose the 2.66 GHZ Core i7 processor.
Because the Intels are more expensive of the two processors this one is a little more pricey with a retail price of $2,250, but I had it slashed down to $2,050 for this deal. That’s $200 off folks. Can’t do much better than that.
You can find the Nvidia and Intel combo here.

ATI and NVidia release new video cards
Posted by admin in Epic Custom PC News, Industry News on April 4th, 2009

ATI recently released the Radeon 4890 video card while NVidia launched it’s GTX 275. Both cards retail for $250 and are significant improvements over their prior series (The Radeon 4870 and Nvidia GTX 260.)
Framerates in games such as Crysis and Far Cry are as much as 10 frames more per second over their predecessors. In order to view the entire frame testing check out the informative Extreme Tech article here.
These video cards are brand new and are set to be available on Epic Custom computers in the computer catalog in the very near future. Look for both of these gaming bad boys in Late April.
