Eric Miner Personal – Post 1

It’s been over a year and a half since I started Epic Custom PC. When I started this company I only did one thing, and that was computer builds and computer repairs.

So yeah I guess that’s two things, but who cares? Regardless now Epic Custom PC has branched out to many new things such as Xbox Repair, Web Design, and more.

But the funny thing is that now I get more people asking about the iPod Repair and Xbox Repair than I do computers. I guess it just shows where the markets going and maybe it’s great to branch out and check these new avenues out.

Here are Epic Custom PC I have to be always on the lookout for more solutions for tech problems, and I must say it’s an exciting thought that I could be doing so much more with this business that what’s going on right at this moment.

More next week…

For a money saving opportunity call 724-757-3084 and mention this blog post to receive $10 off any iPod Labor Charge.

I’m now writing this blog from Stahlstown. We’ve moved our location to Stahlstown and are prepping the location for business. Expect to see us open sometime in October at our new location. We are still doing home pick up services as usual, but the new retail store won’t be open just yet.

Cat Downloaded Child Porn, Man Claims

Stumbled upon this at the Guardian. Here’s the original link

Dogs have been blamed for eating homework – now a Florida man says his cat downloaded child pornography.

Police are charging Keith Griffin of Jensen Beach, Florida with 10 counts of possession of child pornography after finding more than 1,000 images on his personal computer.

Griffin told police he had been downloading music, and that his cat jumped on the keyboard when he left the room. He said “strange things” appeared on the computer when he returned.

He is being held in Martin county jail on $250,000 bond. No word on any charges against the cat.”

Personal Comment:

You know I’ve been pretty upset with my dog for stepping on my keyboard, but the most that’s ever come of that have been a few strange screens. Never have I had my dog download over 1,000 child porn images in a few moments.

Looks like we’ll have to talk to Brinks about making a keyboard lock to keep me from going to jail.

Although I have to say this guy’s a total moron.

The New Victory shows off both new video cards

With the recent release of NVidias GTX 275 and ATIs Radeon 4890 I decided the next computer I build for my Epic Series of PCs should feature these two great cards since they both outperform the ones I was planning on putting into them.

Since I am using these new video cards I decided that it would be sad for me to jam a bunch of old crap in both of my versions and call it a day. So since there was two new video cards I made two different computers with all different technology in them. However first I’d like to tell you about what both versions have as the same.

For starters, both versions include the newly released case from Thermaltake that I’ve nicknamed Victory. Of course that’s why there is a picture of it on the left.

Both systems feature one of my favorite hard drives, the Western Digital 750 GB Caviar Black with 32 MB Cache and they also both feature a Samsung DVD burner w/ Lightscribe technology built in. I’ve decided to stick the Media card reader on there for extra functionality and put Windows Vista Ultimate on both of these systems as well as sticking some high quality DDR3 1600 MHZ RAM from Mushkin in there (8 GB to be exact.)  And last, but not least this system comes with a standard keyboard and mouse combo from Logitech and a massive 1000 watt power supply (But don’t worry because I made sure it was 80 Plus Certified for energy efficient operation.).

Now for the differences: To show off the ATI Video Card I thought it would be only right to put the new AMD Phenom II processor in that bad boy. So I stuck a 2.6 GHZ X4 Quad Core in there to go with the ASUS motherboard.  The Phenom run 2.6 GHZ on each core and has a 4000 MHZ Hyper Transport with the Caches being as follows: L1 Cache = 4 X 128k, L2 Cache= 4 X  512k, L3 Cache =   4MB. This I think will compliment the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 very well.

If you’d like the AMD and ATI version I’ve built then you can check it out here. – The sticker price on this is $2,000 new, but for the special I knocked $150 off of the price tag. So the first batch will sell for $1850.

Now if you’re more into the Nvidia video cards and your colors are green and black don’t fret, I got a build for you as well.

Since I went with the Phenom II for the ATI build I thought why not show off the Intel Core i7 with the Nvidia? That’s exactly what I did because I started off with the Nvidia GTX 275 video card from EVGA, than paired it with a motherboard that is also from EVGA. For the processor I chose the 2.66 GHZ Core i7 processor.

Because the Intels are more expensive of the two processors this one is a little more pricey with a retail price of $2,250, but I had it slashed down to $2,050 for this deal. That’s $200 off folks. Can’t do much better than that.

You can find the Nvidia and Intel combo here.

If you’d like a different combination of parts that are similar call us at 724-757-3584 to have your own custom computer built for you.
